COLORADO CHEF USES HEMPSEED CREAM TO MAKE SUPERFOOD SOUPS


With this simple recipe swap, it is easy to make traditional soups with added hemp foods nutrition. Hempseed 'cream', which is blended soaked hemp hearts, can replace dairy based creams in any soup recipe. The flavor is not affected and soups retain silky mouthfeels along with satiating savoriness.


Denver based Chef Sarah Gordon has been creating superfood versions of traditional favorite soups and showcasing these in her catering menus for over a decade. She uses hempseed 'cream' and gluten free vegan ingredients. The result are crowd friendly soups that also happen to be allergen free and specialized diet friendly.


There is, however, one trick to make this recipe swap work. Because of hemp's sensitivity to high heat, the hempseed cream must be added at the end of cooking with heat turned off.
